In the quiet moments of a classroom, where stories and dreams intertwined, a spark was ignited — and grew into a family-led home for craft, comfort and conscience.

Our story
A dream that took flight
In the quiet moments of a classroom, where stories and dreams intertwined, a spark was ignited. For over 20 years, Leena poured her heart into teaching, nurturing young minds with the same passion that fuelled her love for home and garden decor. Her dream was always to create a space where creativity, beauty, and comfort could flourish — a dream that quietly simmered as she dedicated her life to education.
In December 2021, that dream took flight. With a heart full of hope and hands eager to craft, Leena stepped into a new chapter, bringing her vision to life with the support of her family. Joining her were her daughter, Srishti, and her daughter's brother-in-law, Rahul, each bringing their own spark to this shared dream.
Together, they launched Just a Spell Away, a haven where every product is imbued with the warmth of their family's love and the creativity of local artisans. As they found a place in the hearts of their customers, they soon introduced beautiful Reed Grass products to their collection. Their mission was not only to support rural women artisans from Northeast India but also to take a step towards promoting a sustainable lifestyle.
Later, they also founded their brand MEKSHA which showcases handwoven Mekhela Sadors from Assam & other traditional weaves of Sarees from across India.

Our journey began with a dedicated vision: to transform everyday spaces into extraordinary places through the beauty of home decor, linens, ceramic homeware, planters, and miniature gardens. Each piece we offer is crafted with care, reflecting the heart and soul of those who create it. Embracing our love for handmade products, we soon introduced beautifully embroidered Reed Grass items into our collection, with a commitment to offering eco-friendly and sustainable products.

Natural reed grass is cultivated, prepped and woven by hands to create beautiful pieces by artisan clusters across Assam and the North East.

Patterns are woven into desired bag shapes and then meticulously hand embroidered — botanical motifs, natural textures and vibrant yet subtle palettes.
